Q. What does U R stand for?
A. U R means You Are, as in You Are Kingston. It’s our way of letting you know that you are what’s important in your area, and what you have to say matters to not only us but your fellow citizens as well.

Q. What is the voting of articles, blogs and comments for?
A. Whenever someone votes for one of your online submissions in the U R Community pages, you will receive one point, either positive for a thumbs up vote, or a negative point for a thumbs down vote. Those votes are totaled up in real time and kept on file. Once you reach a certain level of positive points you will be granted a higher access level to the U R Community site. This will allow you to become a moderator of the community to help make sure it’s a great place to be. The voting system helps to encourage you to become an active and responsible member of the U R Community.

Q. How will I know what my points total is, and how will I know I’ve been granted more access?
A. You don’t ever know what your points total is, that information is hidden. You will know what your access level is when you log into your account, it will tell you what your access level is on the screen.

Q. How long do my submissions stay on the site?
A. Information articles will remain on the site for 30 days, blog entries will be online for 90 days and comments will be available as long as the item they are submitted too is online. Message board topics will remain online for 30 days from the date of the last posting, so to keep a topic active, there must be a post to that topic before the 30 day expiration date. Once the topic has reached the 30 day limit it will be removed and the topic will need to be started again.

Q. How does my article get posted to the newspaper main page?
A. Newspapers will drop into the community side once in a while and look for well written, informative, and relevant information articles and blog entries. If one of them catches their attention, the newspaper can promote it to the front page of their web site. The article will not appear with the newspaper generated content but will appear in it’s own section on the right side of the newspaper main page.

Q. Can I remove comments that people leave on my content?
A. Unless you are a Trusted User, which is some one who has received enough points to increase their access level, or a Community Partner that is responsible for that section of the U R Community, you are not able to directly remove comments made to your submitted content. You can however report that comment and the site administrators will review the comment and take any necessary actions.

Q. What do I do if I find content that isn’t appropriate for this site?
A. If the automatic filters do not catch content that is submitted to the site, you can report that content. To report content you find inappropriate, you need to click on the icon of the circle with an exclaimation mark in it or the Report button found underneath comments. Fill out the form to indicate why you are reporting this article and it will be reviewed and any appropriate actions will be taken.

Q. I want to create a news article, but I can’t find an appropriate category. What should I do?
A. U R Community members are not able to create their own news categories when posting news information content. If there is a category that is not available in the current category listing, you will have to contact the newspaper and inform them of the category you feel needs to be created. The newspaper will then review your request and take any necessary actions.
